Instagram and Messenger with AI: turn comments, DMs and ads into conversations that sell
Instagram Direct and Facebook Messenger are real channels on Zapify — DMs and comments on posts can automatically start a conversation, with the same AI assistant and the same inbox as WhatsApp.
Instagram and Facebook are no longer just social networks. For businesses, brands, artists and creators, they are one of the main places where a relationship with a customer begins — in a comment on a post, a reply to a story, or a direct message. In every case there is something in common: intent. The question is what happens next.
With Instagram Direct and Facebook Messenger as real channels on Zapify, that intent stops being lost. The two accounts join WhatsApp, RCS and webchat in the same shared inbox, with the same AI assistant and the same Human-in-the-Loop logic already used on the other channels.
A comment can also start a conversation
Besides direct messages, a comment on an Instagram post or a Facebook Page can automatically receive a private message from your business — the first reply of an active campaign, when one is running, or the start of the normal support flow with the same AI assistant. The person who commented doesn’t need to write a separate DM: Zapify can start the conversation from the comment itself, keeping everything in the same inbox and the same contact history.
This changes the logic of paid traffic and organic content: instead of ad → click → landing page → form, it becomes post or ad → comment → private conversation → AI → qualification → human when needed. The goal stops being just generating engagement — it becomes not wasting the intent a comment has already shown.
Where this makes the biggest difference
E-commerce and retail. A post about a new collection generates questions like “do you have it in black?” or “do you ship to France?” — the AI can answer and keep the conversation going through to the recommendation or the sale.
Artists and events. Tickets, schedules, merchandise and recurring questions about a concert or event can be handled automatically, freeing up the team for the situations that really need a person.
Brands working with influencers and sponsored posts. A comment or DM generated by an influencer campaign or an ad has already shown interest — the conversation can start from there, instead of ending at the click.
Appointment-based services. A clinic, a restaurant or an events venue can answer “do you have availability this week?” directly from a comment or a DM, with the same AI already handling WhatsApp.
What changes, in practice
- One contact, one conversation. If someone comments on Instagram and later writes on WhatsApp, Zapify keeps the context tied to the same contact whenever it can identify them, instead of separate records.
- The same AI assistant. The instructions, personality and knowledge of the assistant are the same across every channel.
- Human-in-the-Loop on every channel. The assistant answers what it can safely resolve and hands the conversation to a human agent, with full history, whenever needed.
- Metrics that start to matter. Beyond reach and likes, started conversations, qualified contacts and handoffs to a human agent now count — what that attention led to, not just how much attention there was.
How to activate it
Activation happens in Zapify’s channel settings, by connecting the Facebook Page (for Messenger) or the Instagram professional account — with or without a linked Page — and enabling automatic replies to comments per account, together with our team. Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Facebook Page to use Instagram on Zapify? Not necessarily — Zapify supports both Instagram accounts linked to a Page and standalone Instagram professional accounts.
Can a public comment really trigger an automatic private message? Yes — it’s the same principle as Meta’s “private reply”: an eligible public interaction can open a private conversation, handled by the same AI assistant and, when there is an active campaign, by that campaign’s message.
Do Zapify’s campaigns already reach Instagram and Messenger? They can take part as a reply to a customer interaction (comment or DM) during an active campaign. Bulk sending of a campaign is still centered on WhatsApp and RCS.
Does the AI assistant work the same way on Instagram and Messenger? Yes. It’s the same engine, the same instructions and the same knowledge configured for your account — only the message’s transport channel changes.
Can I see the history of a customer who already talked to me on WhatsApp, now that they wrote on Instagram? Yes, whenever Zapify can match the two conversations to the same contact, the history stays unified.
